The Township administration and the Board of Trustees would like to thank the many residents, employees, business owners, educators, leadership groups, and community organizations for their participation in the Five-Year Strategic Planning sessions and surveys that have taken place this summer. Supervisor Dani Walsh said, “The response and interaction from our community has been outstanding! Our consultants at Berry Dunn have said that our in-person attendance at the open public forums and stakeholder interview panels were some of the largest they have seen post 2020/Covid time. After each forum, you could see the possibilities, priorities, and themes coming together. There truly is a brain trust in this Township of intelligent and passionate people, and this strategic planning process allows all of their wants, needs, and ideas to be considered.”
Our consultants at BerryDunn, are working to compile all of the insights they gleamed from phase one (public portion) so they can facilitate a Plan Development session with which allows the Township Board of Trustees to interact and engage in phase two (internal portion) of the process. That Plan Development session is scheduled to take place on Monday, August 12 at the Board of Trustees meeting.
To allow for ample discussion, the meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. instead of the standard starting time. As in any open board meeting, the public is welcome to attend and the first agenda item will be public comment. Once the public comment portion concludes and the Plan Development study session begins, the public is encouraged to stay and listen while BerryDunn and the Board members interact and discuss what was learned.
Discussion topics during the Plan Development session will be centered around priorities and objectives that were revealed in the community forums, the social pinpoint site survey, and the many small group or individual engagement sessions that BerryDunn conducted. In phase three, BerryDunn will meet with Department Directors, Union Presidents, additional community leaders, and complete their extensive statistically relevant sample survey.
The final Strategic Plan is expected to be presented to the Board of Trustees at their regularly scheduled October 28 meeting, at which the Board will discuss implementing the report recommendations.
Although the Strategic Plan online participation portal has ended, you can still visit the site to view the community forum presentation, the opinions shared on the ideas wall, and to track the project phases. Visit Bloomfield Township Strategic Plan.
